Hiring of Truck Drivers *
All potential truck drivers must provide the SAM-X Group of Companies with a completed Application for Employment and a Drivers Abstract.
Upon screening of the application, if the Hiring Officer feels that that candidate is good, the driver will be asked to go for a Road Test.

SAM-X will run a Criminal background check and request a Drug Test.

If the applicant is accepted, he/she must take part in a two day Driver Orientation at the SAM-X Head Office.  This orientation will be given by our Safety and Maintenance Officer.  The Driver Orientation will include in-depth instruction on the following policies and procedures:

1. Log Book Completion
2. Transportation of Dangerous Goods
3. Reefer
4. General Safety Concerns
5. Border Crossing
6. Cargo Securement
7. Loading and Unloading
8. Communication with Dispatch
9. Company Policies
10. Accident Reporting
11. Trip Bags
12. PODs
13. Fire Extinguisher Usage
14. Cell Phone Usage
15. Driver Fatigue


Upon completion of the two day orientation, the driver will be provided with a contract for employment to sign, a copy of the Operator’s Manual (Driver and Operator Edition) a SAM-X Truck Safety Kit.

A completed and signed copy of the New Hire Orientation Checklist, a signed copy of the Acknowledgement form from the Company Policies and Procedure Manual and a signed, dated and witnessed copy of the Employment Contract will be placed in the Driver’s Personal File.

* A driver is anyone who SAM-X authorizies to operate their NSC vehicles even if only one time.  Drivers can be full time, part time, lease operators, management, company owners, a non-employee etc.
